Cheryl....so, so sorry to hear about Andy....I just found out today.....I havent been to the island for almost 8 years.....All of us, Ray and Camille August, Tina Hounigringer, Marty and Annie Sabba, Grace and John Cervisio, Victor Crozzoli, and others ALWAYS came to your place to see the two of you..........the two of you were always a familiar face to come to and will be deeply missed......I am going to look for my pictures of us together so I can remember all the fun times.......I hope someday I can say hello if you are every in business again......Again......thank you for all the memories and fun over the years.....you both will NEVER be forgotten......we always talk about the two of you......always!

We cannot believe that a year has passed since losing our friend Andy. We spend 7 weeks in SXM and were entertained and fed many times at the restaurant. We miss his famous food but more importantly we miss the laughs and fun he provided to all of us. We sang, we danced, we bet on football, played games and generally loved each other. After 26 years of following him around the island, he was missed so much last year. Orient will never be the same!! Andy was such a hugh part of our time on the island that the void cannot be filled......only remembered fondly.

i knew andy was in st maarten but not where. got up next day and took a taxi into marigot.i went to kiss photo where 2 girls told me he opened a resturant close by. i knocked on the door.when he opened the door we both were like little kids.he asked we i was staying and went back to hotel where he walked into managers office and said this my friend and will be staying with me.andy knew everyone and was loved by all.i could tell many stories but will leave that for another time maybe? still thinking of all the good times. your friend Bob < the munch>Eaton Love u always

We are so sorry to hear of Andy's passing. We enjoyed so much visiting Baywatch when we were in St Martin. Andy always mad lunch a enjoyable and the food was awesome. Andy was one of a kind. Will still visit Baywatch when we return to St Martin but it will never be the same. Being Jersey kids, we immediately gravitated to the little bar in Grand Case that advertised "Jersey Shore Menu". And what a relationship that began! From the Cuervo shots and green label Sundays to the Philly cheese steaks, we had found our home away from home on SXM. Our kids followed our path and loved Surf Club South and Baywatch as much as we did. They even shared the Andy and Cheryl experience with a third generation by introducing their children to Orient Beach a few years ago. They still have some terrific pictures of Andy and Cheryl! We are bringing some friends to SXM in December who have never had the pleasure of the island experience. I just told them about Andy and his claim to having the "best balls on the island"! We will all miss his smiling face and fabulous kitchen creations. He was truly one of a kind. We hope that Cheryl will be carrying on the Baywatch tradition and that we can visit with her this year. What a character - he will be missed greatly! RIP, Andy.

We met Andy & Cheryl 18 years ago at Surf Club South when they moved from Grand Case to the spot near the road to Cul-de-sac. We were just acquaintances but they always made us feel welcome, especially when Cheryl greeted us with "Welcome Home". He was truly an icon of St. Martin and bigger than life. We will miss him. We just heard of Andy's passing from another St. Martin friend. It was just about a week or two ago that we were talking about Andy and Cheryl, and looking forward to seeing them again this May. Andy always brightened each day, and especially made anyone from the Northeast smile when he gave us his best shot. He will be missed for his food, his attitude, and his occasional wry smile. We will miss Andy , We met Andy and Cheryl about 12 years ago at Baywatch and made the stop our favorite in St Martin. In fact we always felt like we were back at home.. ALl the great St Patrick day partys of the past were fantastic .. Kathy and I always enjoyed talking with Andy many times stopping buy in the morning then again in the after noon. He was certainly a St Martin Landmark and we will miss him... Jackie and i and our kids have been coming to Baywatch and then Sheryl and Andy's for many years. He saw my now college age kids grow up. Oh my goodness we will miss that guy. We first met Andy about 15 years ago and considered him one of our St. Martin friends. We would visit the island several times a year and usually ate breakfast with Andy ever morning and often got takeouts for our evening meals. The food was always delicious. His good natured bickering with customers was always fun. His tough exterior was hiding a gentle spirit. Our upcoming trip will seem strange without seeing Andy. We will still go to the restaurant and watch the morning sun, thinking of Andy and all our good memories as we look out over the blue water. Our families do not know each other but Andy touched our lives in such a way that I feel like we are cousins in a big extended family. Please know that tears of friendship and love are shared by many over the globe for having friendship with your dad, your brother and our friend. We will flowers afloat in St. Martin near the restaurant as we hold our own memorial when we visit in 6 weeks. Please find peace in his memory.

We would always arrive at Baywatch and later Andy & Cheryl's early, about 7AM... and sit and have coffee with Andy before he opened for breakfast at 8AM... My favorite mornings on SXM were with Andy... He was a wonderful chef, a great conversationalist, a wonderful, dry sense of humor and a friend... an icon of Orient Beach, SXM, everybody knew Andy and he knew everybody, even after a year or two of absence... He is truly missed...

Story shared: Our first breakfast with Andy

We strolled into Baywatch in February of 2002 for breakfast, ordered our eggs, bacon and toast. After finishing my eggs and bacon I still had toast left on the plate. Andy picked up my plate, looked at the toast and said, "You don't want the toast, don't order the toast! I hate wasting food!" I wasn't sure what to say and after a few moments he laughed. From that moment we began a wonderful friendship with many, many hours visiting over breakfast or just coffee. And he and I had a personal tradition of exchanging "sugar" (that's a little kiss down here in the south.) I'll always treasure that last "sugar" I got in the hospital in SXM before he left for NJ. We loved his tender heart that he veiled with that awesome NY/NJ persona. He leaves a gaping, empty space here on earth but is filling one beautiful place now in heaven. We will always love and remember our Andy.
